Ask Your SEO Data Anything
The AI chat in Brass-SEO is an SEO analyst that knows your data. You type a question in plain English, and it decides what data to pull from your Google Search Console and Google Analytics 4 accounts, analyzes the results, and explains what it found. No report menus, no filters to configure, no data exports.
This guide covers the types of questions you can ask, what happens behind the scenes, and tips for getting better answers.

How It Works
When you type a question, the AI follows a process:
- Understands your question — Figures out what data it needs to answer
- Fetches data — Queries your GSC and/or GA4 accounts through Google's APIs
- Analyzes the results — Compares periods, identifies patterns, calculates metrics
- Explains findings — Responds in plain English with specific numbers and recommendations
The AI has access to three tools:
| Tool | What It Does | Example Use |
|---|---|---|
| Query Site | Pulls search and traffic data from GSC and GA4 | "How is my traffic trending?" |
| Check Indexing | Checks if a URL is in Google's index via the URL Inspection API | "Is /blog/my-post indexed?" |
| Page Audit | Crawls a URL and analyzes on-page SEO elements | "Audit my homepage" |
The AI chooses which tool(s) to use based on your question. You do not need to specify — just ask what you want to know.
Questions About Traffic
Traffic questions are the most common starting point. The AI pulls data from both GSC (search performance) and GA4 (site engagement) to give you a complete picture.
Example questions:
- "How is my organic traffic this month compared to last month?"
- "Why did my traffic drop in January?"
- "Which pages get the most organic traffic?"
- "What is my overall engagement rate on organic traffic?"
- "Compare my traffic this quarter vs last quarter"
- "Are any of my pages getting traffic from AI assistants?"
What the AI looks at: Clicks, impressions, sessions, engagement rate, and bounce rate across the time periods you specify. It highlights significant changes and explains what they mean.
For understanding the metrics the AI references, see our guides on Google Search Console and GA4 traffic reports.
Questions About Specific Pages
When you mention a specific URL, the AI pulls data for that page and can also crawl it to check on-page SEO elements.
Example questions:
- "How is my /services page performing?"
- "Audit my homepage"
- "What keywords does /blog/my-latest-post rank for?"
- "Why is my /pricing page getting impressions but no clicks?"
- "Check the title tag and meta description on /about"
What the AI looks at: For performance questions, it pulls GSC ranking data and GA4 engagement data for that URL. For audit questions, it crawls the page and checks the title tag, meta description, heading structure, internal links, and images. See the Page Audits guide for the full list of checks.
Questions About Keywords
Keyword questions help you understand what people search for to find your site and where you have opportunities to improve.
Example questions:
- "What keywords am I close to ranking for?"
- "Which keywords drive the most traffic?"
- "What should I write about next?"
- "Are there keywords where I rank on page two?"
- "What queries bring people to my homepage?"
What the AI looks at: GSC query data including impressions, clicks, CTR, and average position. For opportunity-type questions, it filters for keywords in positions 5-20 with meaningful impressions — these are the low-hanging fruit where small improvements can make a real difference.
Questions About Indexing
Indexing questions use Google's URL Inspection API to check whether specific pages are in Google's search index.
Example questions:
- "Is my /blog/new-post indexed by Google?"
- "Check if my pricing page is showing on Google"
- "Are all my blog posts indexed?"
- "Why is /products not appearing in search results?"
What the AI looks at: Index status, last crawl date, crawl result, robots.txt status, canonical URL (both user-declared and Google-selected), and any indexing issues. If a page is not indexed, the AI explains why and suggests fixes.
For more on common indexing problems, see pages not showing on Google or the indexing status checker.
Questions About Strategy
Strategy questions ask the AI to combine multiple data points and give you recommendations for what to do next.
Example questions:
- "Which pages should I focus on improving?"
- "What are my biggest SEO quick wins?"
- "Where should I spend my time this month?"
- "What is working well that I should do more of?"
- "Give me a prioritized list of things to fix"
What the AI looks at: A combination of all available data — traffic trends, ranking positions, engagement metrics, indexing status, and on-page factors. It weighs these against each other to prioritize recommendations by expected impact.
For a structured approach to finding and acting on SEO opportunities, the guide page explains each type of opportunity in detail.
Tips for Better Questions
Be specific. "How is my site doing?" will get a general answer. "How did my organic traffic change in the last 30 days compared to the previous 30 days?" gets a precise answer with specific numbers.
Mention URLs. When asking about a specific page, include the path: "How is /blog/my-post performing?" is better than "How is my latest blog post doing?"
Ask follow-ups. The AI remembers context within a conversation. After asking about traffic trends, you can follow up with "Why did that page decline?" without restating the page URL.
Compare time periods. "Compare my traffic this month vs last month" or "How has my /services page performed over the last 90 days?" gives the AI a clear analysis framework.
Ask "why" not just "what." "Why did my traffic drop?" is more useful than "What is my traffic?" The AI will investigate causes, not just report numbers.
Start broad, then narrow. Begin with "Run a full analysis" or "How is my SEO overall?" Then drill into specific areas based on what you learn.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a limit to how many questions I can ask?
There is no strict per-question limit. The AI processes each question as a separate interaction. During your subscription, you can ask as many questions as you need.
Can the AI access data from tools other than GSC and GA4?
No. Brass-SEO only connects to Google Search Console and Google Analytics 4. It cannot access data from other tools like Semrush, Ahrefs, or social media platforms. If you need insights from those sources, you can paste relevant data into the chat and ask the AI to analyze it alongside your GSC/GA4 data.
Does the AI remember previous conversations?
The AI maintains context within a single conversation session. It remembers what you discussed earlier in the same chat, so you can ask follow-up questions naturally. Previous sessions are stored but may not carry full context into a new conversation.
What if the AI gives an answer I do not understand?
Ask it to explain. You can say "Can you explain that in simpler terms?" or "What does that mean for my business?" The AI will rephrase its answer. You can also ask "What should I do about this?" to get specific action steps.
Can I ask about competitors?
The AI does not have access to competitor data. It can only analyze data from your own GSC and GA4 accounts. For competitor research, you would need separate tools. However, the AI can help you identify keyword opportunities and content gaps based on your own search data, which often reveals where competitors are outranking you.
