Set Up Brass-SEO in 2 Minutes

Setting up Brass-SEO takes about two minutes. There are three steps: create an account, connect Google Search Console, and connect Google Analytics 4. No technical setup, no code to install, and no configuration files. You sign up, authorize two Google connections, and you are ready to start asking questions about your SEO data.

Quick Navigation

What You Need Before Starting

Before you create your Brass-SEO account, make sure you have:

Requirement Why You Need It How to Check
Google account Used to authorize GSC and GA4 connections You can log into accounts.google.com
Google Search Console access Provides search performance data Visit search.google.com/search-console and see your property listed
Google Analytics 4 access Provides site traffic and engagement data Visit analytics.google.com and see your property listed
Website verified in GSC GSC requires proof of site ownership Your site appears as a property in GSC
GA4 tracking installed GA4 needs to be collecting data on your site Check GA4 Realtime report to confirm data is flowing

Both Google Search Console and Google Analytics 4 are free from Google. If you do not have either one set up yet, Google's setup guides walk you through the process. Most website platforms (WordPress, Shopify, Squarespace, Wix) have built-in options for connecting both.

Important: Both GSC and GA4 are required. Brass-SEO analyzes data from both sources together to give you a complete picture of your SEO performance.

Step 1: Create Your Account

  1. Go to brass-seo.com and click Sign Up
  2. Enter your email address and create a password
  3. Check your email for a confirmation link and click it to verify your account
  4. Choose the $25/month plan (includes a 3-day free trial)

After subscribing, you will be taken to your dashboard. The dashboard will prompt you to connect your Google accounts.

Step 2: Connect Google Search Console

  1. On your dashboard, click Connect Google Search Console
  2. Google will ask you to choose which Google account to use — pick the one that has access to your GSC property
  3. Google will show you what permissions Brass-SEO is requesting: View Search Console data (read-only)
  4. Click Allow to authorize the connection
  5. Back on your dashboard, select your GSC property from the dropdown if you have more than one

The read-only permission means Brass-SEO can view your search data but cannot make any changes to your GSC settings or properties. Google enforces this at the API level.

Step 3: Connect Google Analytics 4

  1. On your dashboard, click Connect Google Analytics 4
  2. Google will ask you to choose which Google account to use — this should be the same account or one with GA4 access
  3. Google will show you what permissions Brass-SEO is requesting: View Analytics data (read-only)
  4. Click Allow to authorize the connection
  5. Your dashboard will automatically match your GA4 property to your GSC property based on the domain

Like GSC, the GA4 connection is read-only. Brass-SEO reads your traffic and engagement data but cannot modify your GA4 configuration.

What Happens Next

Once both accounts are connected, your dashboard is ready. You can:

  • Run a Full Analysis — Click the Brass-SEO Full Analysis button to get a complete SEO health check of your site. This is the best first step. Our first SEO analysis guide explains what to expect.
  • Ask a question — Type any question about your SEO into the chat. For example: "Which pages should I focus on improving?" or "Is my homepage indexed?" See all the questions you can ask.
  • Run individual reports — Use the sidebar buttons for specific analyses like Opportunities, Declining Pages, or Page Audits. Learn what each of the 8 reports does.

The AI connects to your GSC and GA4 data in real time when you ask a question or run a report. It does not store copies of your data.

Troubleshooting

No properties showing after connecting GSC

  • Make sure you signed in with the Google account that owns or has access to your GSC property
  • If you use multiple Google accounts, try disconnecting and reconnecting with the correct one
  • Your site must be verified in GSC before it appears as a property

No properties showing after connecting GA4

  • Confirm you have at least one GA4 property (not a Universal Analytics property — UA was sunset by Google in July 2023)
  • Check that your Google account has Viewer access or higher to the GA4 property
  • If you recently created your GA4 property, it may take a few hours to appear

Wrong Google account connected

  • Go to your Account settings page
  • Disconnect the service
  • Reconnect using the correct Google account

Connection shows "disconnected" after working previously

  • Google OAuth tokens expire periodically
  • Click the reconnect button on your dashboard to re-authorize
  • This is a normal part of how Google's authentication system works

Most connection issues resolve by disconnecting and reconnecting with the correct Google account. For additional help, visit the support page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I connect multiple websites?

Yes. If you have multiple sites verified in GSC with matching GA4 properties, you can switch between them from the property dropdown on your dashboard.

What Google permissions does Brass-SEO request?

Brass-SEO requests two read-only permissions: View Search Console data (webmasters.readonly) and View Analytics data (analytics.readonly). These allow reading your data but not modifying anything in your Google accounts. Google has verified and approved these permissions. For more on why we chose read-only access and what to check before connecting any SEO tool, see our privacy guides.

Can I revoke access later?

Yes. You can remove Brass-SEO's access at any time from your Google account security settings (myaccount.google.com > Security > Third-party apps). You can also disconnect from within Brass-SEO's account settings.

Is my data stored by Brass-SEO?

Brass-SEO reads your GSC and GA4 data when you ask a question or run a report. It does not maintain a copy of your SEO data. Your Google credentials are encrypted and stored securely, and the connection is read-only.
